Lorraine Olive Powell

Lorraine Olive Powell went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2017. She was born in Conesus Lake, New York on August 16, 1929 to the late William and Grace (Miles) Pearles.

She was a 1947 graduate of Akron High School. Lorraine married her loving husband Jack on June 10, 1950. She retired from Ward Hydraulics in 1991 and was an active charter member of the Newstead Fire Company Auxiliary, the Limerick Home Bureau, the Akron Evening Home Bureau, and the Akron Newstead Senior Center. Lorraine was an avid bowler and enjoyed snowmobiling. She loved stamping especially making her own novelty cards and party favors. Lorraine will be remembered as an excellent baker; her original cakes will surely be missed by all.

Beloved wife of Jack W. Powell; loving mother of Bonnie (William) Hawes and Jody Allen. Loving grandmother of Keith (Kim) Hawes, Chad (Sheri) Hawes, Joseph (Denise) Hawes, Ryan (Adrienne) Allen and Terrance Harris. Also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and a sister Sharon (late Harry) Groff. Predeceased by sisters Betty (George) Stuber and Kathy (Herbert) Groff as well as a brother Raymond Bud Pearles.

Friends may call from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 28, 2107 at the Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC.,10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, NY 14001, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lorraine’s name to the Newstead Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, 5691 Cummings Road, Akron, NY 14001.
