William D. Tobin, of Akron passed away on September 23, 2017. He was born on November 19, 1936 in Sardinia, NY to the Late Flavel and Augusta (Fitzgerald) Tobin.
William served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1954 - 1957. Upon his return in 1958, he married his wife of 53 years, the late Dianna (Blakeslee) Tobin. He worked as a Machine Tender for Spalding Composite and was a truck driver for Swift Transportation and Barden Homes. After his retirement, he stayed busy working around his farm. William was a scout master as well as a member of the Wolcottsville Fire Department.
He is survived by his five children, Dennis (Amelia) Tobin, William (Laurie) Tobin, Flavel (Luann) Tobin, Cynthia (Bryan) Shafer, and Karen (Rick) Carey. Also survived by 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Cleo Jean Walter; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he is predeceased by a brother, John Tobin.
Friends and relatives may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue Akron. The Funeral Service will take place on Friday, September 29 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville.
