Walter Lemanski of Akron, New York passed away peacefully on February 22, 2019 surrounded by family at Buffalo Hospice in Cheektowaga. He was born on July 19, 1928 in Buffalo, NY to the late Walter J. and Helen (Nagi) Lemanski.
Beloved husband of Dorothy Dombrowski for almost 68 years; loving father of Sue (Cary) Crane, Gary (Mimi) Lemanski; cherished grandfather of Melissa Crane, Stephen (Ashley) Crane, Christopher Lemanski and Alexandra Lemanski; dear brother of the late Trudy (late Cesar) Tronolone and Leonard (Carol) Lemanski. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.
Walter served the U.S. Army in both World War II and the Korean War. He retired as a foreman after working 40 years for Niagara Mohawk Power Co. Walt was a longtime member of St. Teresa's Parish in Akron, NY; where he was an usher for 50 years and actively involved with Bingo as well as many other activities. Walter was one of the first parishioners to help raise money for the building of the new St. Teresa's Parish many years ago. He held the office of Treasurer for the now defunct Holy Name Society. Walter especially enjoyed traveling the world with his wife to Thailand, the Philippines, Venice, Italy and Mexico. He also enjoyed golfing, playing pool, bowling, and playing cards at the Senior Center. His greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his four grandchildren. Walt will be remembered as a great provider and loving example for his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St.Teresa of Avila Church, 5771 Buell St., Akron, NY 14001. Charitable donations may be made in Walter's name to Hearts and Hands or Hospice Buffalo.
